Black Hawk Down Essay (Inital Phase)

As an English 132 student in Dr. Parkhurst's class at SFA, I am required to adequately write essays on a consistent basis. The essay I am currently in the process of composing requires me to use Mark Bowden's Black Hawk Down in addition to any other reputable source I may want to use in order to persuasively argue for a claim of my choosing. As of now, I am working towards arguing the case for American intervention typically being a good thing for other countries when executed properly. I realize that this is a pretty hot topic with many who would passionately disagree with me. After all, take a look at Vietnam or Iraq. We went in, lost thousands of American lives, and when we left, things quickly became as bad, if not worse, than when we left. However, I plan to use these as examples of poorly executed interventionism and make the case that we should not let these discourage us from pulling off well-planned interventions in places that desperately need them. Hopefully, I will be able to articulate why America needs to use its superior military capabilities for the good of all humankind and that our reaction every time we have casualties shouldn't be to just pull out altogether and let their sacrifices be made in vain. We should adamantly pursue the well-being of all innocents around the world and make the world a safer place.
